The Endocannabinoid System

CBD works in conjunction with the endocannabinoid system, or ECS, which is a network of receptors found throughout the body of every mammal. The ECS is tasked with maintaining our body’s balance (aka, our “homeostasis”). The ECS manages everything from sleep, to pain, to hunger, to immunity, to stress. Our bodies are eager to use CBD and know just how to synthesize it because we naturally produce ENDOcannabinoids already. CBD is a PHYTOcannabinoid, and these two cannabinoids affect our ECS very similarly. It’s like a lock and key system, where the CBD is the key that unlocks a receptor in the ECS, and that causes a series of healthy, healing reactions throughout the body. There is ample evidence to suggest that we can achieve better sleep, better sex, reduced inflammation, less anxiety and quicker pain and injury recovery with topical CBD applications at low to medium doses. Megadoses might be tempting, but the body only uses what it needs and “ignores” the rest. While studies indicate that it is impossible to overdose on CBD, why pay for more than your body needs? At Simon Wolff, we consider dosages in every one of our products very carefully because we know that size DOSE matter.
